Christmas Mantel 2011

Ok, well I'm a bit behind this year! Now that the holiday madness is over, I'm finally ready to share the rest of the holiday stuff!
I really loved last year's mantel, and I wanted to keep it similar this year, but bring in a bit more color, so at first I went with this tinsel tree from Target as the centerpiece:

Which photographed really well, but was just a bit TOO much in person! Failing at finding a replacement  in-store that really spoke to what I wanted, I decided to get my craft on...

A styrofoam cone from Michael's with a couple yards of fur, feather and sparkly trim from the fabric store, silver headed straight pins, and voila!

Just what I had in mind! (Well, more or less.. I ended up redoing it so less of the black edging showed!)
I backed that up with some wood letters, also from Michael's, that I painted with some leftover wall paint and topped with some Martha Stewart glitter all strung on twine:

And ta-daa!

The Christmas mantel of 2011!

Today I plan to go out and shoot some photos of the Christmas table (yes, I've left it set up all week!) so come on back to check that out soon! : )
